Both dates are read at midnight UTC, so daylight-saving changes can’t stretch or shrink a day. The order doesn’t matter: the tool always returns the absolute number of days and tells you which date comes first.

Days between dates FAQ
Do you count the start date, the end date, or both?
The tool counts the full 24-hour periods between the two dates at midnight — January 1 to January 2 is 1 day. If you need an inclusive count where both endpoints count, simply add 1 to the result.
Does the order of the dates matter?
No. The result is always the absolute number of days, and the page also tells you which of the two dates comes first.
Why are the dates read in UTC?
Daylight saving time can make a local calendar day 23 or 25 hours long. Measuring from midnight UTC keeps every counted day exactly 24 hours.
Are leap days included?
Yes. Because the count is done on real calendar dates, February 29 is included automatically whenever it falls inside your range.
