Day of week finder
Enter any date to find out which weekday it was — or will be.
How the day of week finder works
Pick any date and the finder instantly names its weekday — handy for checking what day you were born on, which weekday a past event fell on, or planning around a future date.
The weekday is computed in UTC so your time zone can’t shift the answer, and it uses the proleptic Gregorian calendar — the calendar system extended backward — which is the same convention browsers and most date tools use.
Day of week finder FAQ
Which calendar system is used?
The proleptic Gregorian calendar: the modern Gregorian rules applied uniformly, including to dates before the calendar existed. This matches how browsers and most date libraries answer the same question.
Why compute the weekday in UTC?
Reading the date at midnight UTC stops your local time zone from nudging the date into the previous or next day near midnight.
How far back or forward can I go?
Any date you can enter. Typed dates generally work across thousands of years; the graphical picker on some devices limits the range.
Can it tell me if a date is a weekend?
The result names the weekday — Saturday or Sunday means a weekend in most Monday-to-Friday work cultures.
